In a troubling incident at Raiganj Police Barrack, a constable in Uttar Dinajpur district's Raiganj police station was discovered with serious injuries following gunshots on Monday morning.
The constable, who shot himself with his service revolver, was rushed to Raiganj Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The motive behind the incident remains unclear, and investigations are underway with the involvement of the constable's family members and colleagues.
The district police are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
